  • Updated

Formula Fields allow you to automatically calculate numbers and dates using information already stored in Wealthbox. Rather than manually calculating values or updating fields, you can create formulas that automatically display results based on information from a record.

For example, you can use Formula Fields to calculate how long someone has been a client, how many days have passed since their last activity, or a client's estimated net worth.

Note: Formula Fields are available on Premier and Enterprise subscriptions.

What are Formula Fields?

Formula Fields are a type of custom field that perform calculations using information from other fields on the same record.

Formula Fields can be created for:

  • Contacts: Including people, households, companies, and trusts.
  • Opportunities: Calculate values using opportunity amounts, probability, and dates.
  • Custom Objects: Create calculations using supported custom fields.

Formula Fields automatically update when the information used in the calculation changes.

For example, if you create a Formula Field to calculate net worth using a contact's assets and liabilities, the result will automatically update whenever either value changes.

Note: Formula Fields can return a number or date. They cannot display text or calculate information across multiple records.

How do I create a Formula Field using AI?

Wealthbox also offers Fill with AI, which can help you create formulas using natural language.

Instead of writing a formula manually, you can describe what you'd like to calculate, and Wealthbox AI will generate a suggested formula for you.

To use Fill with AI:

  1. Navigate to the Formula Field editor.
  2. Hover over the formula input box.
  3. Select Fill with AI.

  4. Describe the calculation you'd like to create.
  5. Review the suggested formula and its example output.
  6. Save the Formula Field once you're satisfied with the result.

For example, you could enter:

Calculate the number of days since a client's last activity.

Wealthbox AI can suggest:

DAYS_SINCE({Last Activity Date})

You can also use Fix with AI to help correct an invalid formula or Undo Last Edit to reverse an AI-generated change.

Note: Fill with AI is available when AI features are enabled for your account. AI-generated formulas should be reviewed before saving.
