Overview
With the two-way synchronization between Wealthbox and ClientWorks, managing client data has never been easier. This feature ensures that every demographic update automatically syncs between the two platforms in real-time. Whether updating contact details or changing an address, all modifications are reflected immediately on both platforms, maintaining a unified, consistent client record. This eliminates the need to double-check for duplicates or re-enter information, ensuring data remains current regardless of where the update occurred. This How-To Guide focuses on properly setting up your Wealthbox and fully utilizing the two-way synchronization features.
Important: The two-way contact sync is only available in a single workspace—the one where the integration was originally registered.

How to Enable and Use the Integration
Important Note:
Please do not enable the sync until you’ve either completed your data migration with the Migration team or have manually loaded your data. Enabling it prematurely can lead to issues with your setup.
Step 1: User Registration
For those who are new to the Wealthbox/ClientWorks integration, a user registration is needed. This only takes a few clicks as follows:
- Click here to launch the ClientWorks - Registration page for the Wealthbox integration.
- Click the “Get Started” button.
- This will navigate you to the Integration Dashboard page. Click ‘Register’ in the Wealthbox widget.
- Accept the LPL Terms and Conditions.
- This will navigate you to the Wealthbox page to log into Wealthbox. Log into Wealthbox.
- Accept the Wealthbox Terms and Conditions.
Congratulations! Your registration should now be complete.
Step 2: Enable the Contact Sync setting in Wealthbox
- Once logged into Wealthbox, in the top-right corner, click the three stacked dots (⋮) next to your name.
- Navigate to Applications.
- Once on "Applications & Add-Ons", scroll down to "LPL Financial" and click on Settings.
- Note: The first user to enable the feature on the account must set the Initial Data Source to ClientWorks.
Step 3: Linking a client, contact, or prospect within ClientWorks
This step illustrates how to quickly link a contact record within ClientWorks to a new or existing contact record in Wealthbox. If you already have the Financial Account Sync integration enabled, this step has likely already been completed during the setup of that sync.
Wealthbox will automatically match client records/accounts if there is a match on SSN/Tax ID. If there is no SSN/Tax ID, then Wealthbox will search on first and last name. If there is no exact match on those name fields, and you believe the contact exists in Wealthbox, you can quickly find that contact record by using the search field.
Important: The two-way sync supports Company and Person contact types, but not Trust and Households. For those two record types to be linked, they would need to be set up as a Contact (person) or a Company in Wealthbox.
-
Select Link to Wealthbox to initiate the linking process
-
Now that the linking process has been initiated, selecting View in Wealthbox will open Wealthbox in a new browser tab.
- A yellow bar is displayed for any contact records needing a final linking step. Click Review Notices in the yellow bar.
Once in the Sync Notices list, you can perform one of three actions:
Find Contact Record
-
-
- If you believe the contact record already exists in Wealthbox, click Find Contact on the right side of the contact record.
- A pop-up will appear which will allow you to search for that contact record.
- If there is no match on your search, a “contact not found” message will appear along with the ability to Create a New Contact.
-
Create a new Contact Record
-
-
- To create a new Wealthbox contact to link with the ClientWorks contact, click on the three dots and select Create New Contact.
- A pop-up will appear as a confirmation to Create a New Contact in Wealthbox. This will complete the linking process. From then on, demographic changes made in Wealthbox will be automatically updated in ClientWorks.
- Once the contact record is created and successfully linked, in the contact screen, a green Synced icon will now be displayed in the LPL ClientWorks Contact Sync widget.
- To create a new Wealthbox contact to link with the ClientWorks contact, click on the three dots and select Create New Contact.
-
Delete a Sync Notice for a Contact Record
-
-
- If you do not want to sync a Contact Record, click the three dots next to the sync notice and then click on Delete Notice.
-
Linking a contact or prospect within Wealthbox
- In Wealthbox, navigate to the Contact Record that will be linked.
- Find the Contact Details widget, click Send To, then select LPL ClientWorks
- A pop-up will appear which allows you to choose the appropriate Rep ID and the Client Type.
- Click the "Send" button and the Contact Record will be created in ClientWorks.
The contact record will be automatically created in ClientWorks. A green Synced icon will now be displayed in Wealthbox.
