Subtasks in Wealthbox break down larger workflow steps into smaller parts, introducing non-sequential elements to sequential workflows. This allows multiple users to work on different aspects of a step simultaneously, improving efficiency in complex processes.

How to Create and Use Subtasks on Workflow Steps
1. Open a Workflow Template – Navigate to your existing workflow templates or create a new one in Wealthbox.
2. Select a Workflow Step – Click the "Add Subtask" button next to the workflow step from the workflow editor or by clicking into the step.
3. Add Subtasks – Create subtasks to break down the work into smaller components.
4. Assign Subtasks – Assign each subtask from the edit view above or through the new inline edit functionality.
5. Track Progress – Monitor subtask completion within the main workflow step to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently. Additionally subtasks will show within the "Tasks" tab in Wealthbox along with your other tasks.

For Active Workflows:

Subtasks FAQs:
Do subtasks have to be completed before completing the workflow step or workflow?
No. Subtasks do not need to be completed for a workflow step to be marked as complete so it's recommended that all subtasks are due before the actual step, and the person that's assigned to the step would confirm if the steps were completed, and whether they need to or not before moving on with the workflow step itself.
Can subtasks be due after the due date of the main step?
It's recommended that all subtasks are due before the actual step.
When are subtasks assigned?
When the workflow step that the subtasks are under is activated, the subtasks will be assigned and appear under Upcoming Activity > Tasks on the related contact's screen, as well as on the task screen.
Will completing the workflow step, complete any incomplete subtasks assigned to that step?
No. The subtasks must be marked completed individually.
Will completing all subtasks, complete the workflow step?
No. The workflow step must be marked completed separately.
If a task within a workflow has subtasks assigned, what happens with the non-completed subtasks if the main task is completed? Do those subtasks stay assigned?
Non-complete subtasks will automatically be unassigned, removed from the task page and the contact’s screen, and will not appear in the related contact’s activity stream.
Where can I find completed subtasks?
Immediately after being marked complete, completed subtasks assigned to a user will show with a green check in the related contact or project activity stream. They can also be viewed by applying the "Completed" filter on the task screen.
Completed subtasks without an assigned user will only show in the activity stream of the related contact or project. They will not show under the completed filter on the tasks page.
