Opportunities in Wealthbox allow you to track various financial advisory client engagements to build your book of business. An opportunity could be an Annuity, Retirement Plan, or 401k, for example, that you are working on for a company or individual. Wealthbox allows users to differentiate and track the AUM, Commission, and Fee associated with opportunities.

Common questions:
Q: Can I view "Won" or "Lost" opportunities as stages in my pipeline view in Wealthbox?
A: No, "Won" and "Lost" opportunities are not displayed as stages in the pipeline (kanban) view. To view opportunities marked as won or lost, switch to the list view and use the stage filter to display those specific statuses.
Q: Can I reorder Opportunity Stages?
A: See: Can I reorder Opportunity Stages?
Q: Can I set a default Opportunity view?

Q: Can I edit an Opportunity's closed date?
A: In Wealthbox, when an opportunity is marked as Won or Lost, the Close Date is automatically assigned based on the date the status was changed. This system-generated date cannot be manually edited or selected at the time of closing.
If you need more flexibility for reporting, such as grouping closings by month, year, or quarter, a helpful workaround is to create custom fields using single-select dropdowns (e.g., "Closed Month," "Closed Year," or "Closed Quarter"). These fields can then be used for filtering and reporting, giving you greater control over how your data is viewed and analyzed.

Q: Can I customize the options that appear when closing an opportunity in Wealthbox?
A: No, it’s not currently possible to customize the default options when marking an opportunity as Won or Lost in Wealthbox. However, a good workaround is to create a custom field using a single-select dropdown (e.g., "Outcome Reason") that you fill out before closing the opportunity.
You can add options like Referred, Declined, or Refused, and later use this custom field to filter and report on closed opportunities based on those outcomes. This approach gives you more detailed tracking and insight into why opportunities were closed.

Q: Can I restrict Opportunity visibility?
A: All users have access to add Opportunites and you currently cannot restrict them adding opportunities or accessing the Opportunities screen.
Each user's view of the Opportunities screen will vary because the ability to access opportunities is directly linked to their visibility permissions for the related contact records. Users can only see opportunities that are associated with contacts to which they have visibility access. If a user does not have permission to view a specific contact, any opportunity related to that contact will also be hidden from their view. This ensures that opportunity access is aligned with the level of contact visibility each user has, maintaining data security and appropriate access control within the system.
